Most parents are surprised at the high number of crib accidents that occur every year. Unfortunately, too many of these accidents have fatal consequences.
More babies die each year in incidents involving cribs, than from any other nursery product, according to SAFE KIDS USA. Cribs are responsible for at least 26 strangulation and suffocation deaths every year.
Babies spend a lot of time unsupervised in their cribs, and it is important for parents to ensure their cribs comply with safety requirements. All new cribs on the market today are required to meet the safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA).
